"Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth."
- Ephesians 1:7-10 (MSG)
Sometimes we forget everything to Christ did for us and in us when he died on the Cross and rose from the grave. We're a free people! I love this declaration by Paul, and he's speaking to us just as much as he was to the church in Ephesus. We are a free people. Christ set us free!
You'll hear people say throughout your life that nothing is ever really free -- there's always a catch, something that adds cost. But that's what's so amazing about grace. God made a way for us that we could never have done ourselves, even though we didn't deserve it.
So take a moment today and thank God for all he freed you from through the sacrifice of his son, Jesus. Thank him for freedom, and thank him for grace.
Lord, thank you for freedom today. Thank you for grace. Thank you for saving me and making me whole. Thank you for your son, Jesus. And thank you for loving me, even though I don't deserve it. Amen.
