All Your Heart

Posted: October 09, 2017

Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart..." but how do I know if I'm trusting with ALL of my heart?
A lot of illustrations about trust use a chair: the person sits in the chair and states that they have full confidence that the chair will hold them.  So how often do I stop before I sit in a chair and actually think about whether or not it will hold me?  Pretty much never.  I've never had a chair collapse beneath me.  I'm so trusting in chairs that I will instantly sit in any chair, any time, anywhere.

I'd like to think that someday I will be at a point of spiritual maturity and faith that I don't even have to think about whether or not God will "hold me."  From when I wake up in the morning, to when I go to sleep, I know God's got my back and He won't let me down, so I trust Him explicitly.  It's a journey, a growing process, but I believe I will get there and you can, too.

Jesus, I know that You are completely trustworthy.  You have proven to me over and over again that You will not fail.  Help me to train my soul to trust You no matter what, and let me be a light to others to show that You are the only One who is worthy of explicit trust.  Amen.
