A Way Out

Posted: March 25, 2017

Are you like Jonah? Have you disobeyed God and are now suffering the consequences of a storm?

Don’t despair! God did not send the storm to punish Jonah. Instead of sending the storm to bring retribution for his disobedience, God sent the storm to bring restoration. His intention was to stop Jonah in his tracks and give him an opportunity to start over, and this time to choose obedience!

If you’ve failed and disobeyed God, don’t let your past haunt you. No matter how great your storm, God can turn your sinful mistakes and failures into hope. Your past does not have to determine your destiny.

You can choose obedience and God can make all things new!

When Jonah finally chose obedience, God didn’t let him drown in the ocean as a consequence for his actions! Instead, God provided the great fish for Jonah. He provided a way out. He provided a new start on the journey of obedience.

Now the Lord had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights.”
- Jonah 1:17 NLT

Lord, forgive us for our bad decisions and sinful mistakes. Thank you that we can trust you to provide a way out when we choose obedience. Thank you that you can redeem our failures and make all things new. In Jesus’ name, amen.
