A Way Out

Posted: August 30, 2016

Temptation.

Many people feel uncomfortable just hearing that word! A sense of guilt, shame, or fear can come over people the moment the topic of temptations is raised.

The dictionary defines a temptation as, “a desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.”

The key word in that definition is desire. Notice that it doesn’t say the action of doing something wrong or unwise, but instead it says it’s the desire. Many people confuse having the desire with following through on the action.

Having the desire to sin is human. Even Jesus was tempted! But it’s what you choose to do with that desire that makes the difference.

The Bible teaches us that when we are tempted, God will always provide a way out. Look to His word for help, encouragement, and strength when you are facing temptations in your life. He is faithful!

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

- 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT

Lord, thank you that you are faithful even when I am not. I pray for strength and wisdom when facing the temptations in my life. Thank you that you promise to provide a way out, and give me the strength to do what is right. In Jesus’ name, amen.
