A Better Resolution
Posted: January 11, 2017
Instead of making resolutions that better yourself this year, make a resolution to better the world and those around you in your community. What can you be doing today, tomorrow, this week that will better the life of someone around you who is hurting?
Maybe it’s helping an elderly woman get her groceries to her car. Maybe it’s taking a meal to a family who has just lost a loved one. Maybe it’s helping out your friend who is sick by watching her kids for a day. Maybe it’s helping a stressed out coworker finish a deadline on time. Maybe it’s paying for the coffee of the person in front of you. Maybe it’s just waving hello and having a conversation with your lonely neighbor.
Whatever you do today, resolve to better the lives of those around you in your community today. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, as long as you’re loving your neighbor, as unto the Lord.
“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.”
- Romans 12:10-11 ESV
Lord, thank you for opening my eyes to the needs of those around me. Help me to resolve to make my community and the lives of those around me better, today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
