Are You Ready?

Do you remember Noah and the great flood? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can check it out here in Genesis…it’s a pretty cool story!
Noah, whom the Bible called a righteous man, was obedient to do what God asked of him, which was to build a giant ark (as crazy as it sounded!).
Can you imagine the ridicule he probably received while building the ark?
“Noah, you must be crazy. What are you going to do with a giant boat like that?”
“That Noah is so strange. He doesn’t fit in with us anyway. Let’s just ignore him cause he’s a weirdo!”
“What a waste of his time! Spending all that time on a giant boat that he can’t even use!”
I can just hear the whispers and insults and gossip he must have endured.
But the people didn’t know God was sending a flood to destroy every living thing. But Noah knew. And Noah was diligent to obey God and fulfill his purpose so that when the rains came, he’d be ready with the boat.
I bet that once it started to flood, the people who were busy partying and wasting time while Noah was diligently building his boat wished they had paid a little more attention to that Noah guy. I bet they wished they would’ve been ready, too!
Jesus is coming back again one day. Are you ready?
“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.”
- Matthew 24:37-39 NLT
Lord, help us to diligently prepare for your return so that when you come, we will be ready. Help us to be righteous like Noah, obeying what you have asked of us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
