For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” Jeremiah 29:11-14
In our own lives, we can read a scripture like this one in Jeremiah and forget that while God's plans for our lives are prosperous and hopeful, they may still be on their way. In a culture and society where the “vending machine” mentality is an all-time high, waiting patiently for something we want is a mindset we just aren't familiar with. Because even if when we pray God doesn't answer right away, we must not lose hope or give up. There's a connection between seeking God wholeheartedly and receiving His promises. Here's the kicker:
God will manifest Himself in direct proportion to our passion for Him.
God is saying to us "don't focus on what you have or what you lack. Don't focus on what has passed or what is yet to come. Fix your eyes on me, and only me. Make spending time with me the most important thing you do today. Make me the most important person in your life. I will be found by you and I will pour out my blessing and favor upon you."
Lord, as I pray to You now, I'm thankful for who You are and all that You have done. Help me live my life in such a way that You are my first priority. Be first in my life and rekindle my passion for You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
