Fact or Faith?

In the book of Mark, there is an incredible story of Jesus healing the twelve-year-old daughter of a local synagogue leader named Jairus. Jairus had come to Jesus in desperate need, pleading fervently for him to come lay hands on his daughter to heal her. But before Jesus could get back to Jairus’ house, messengers came to tell Jairus that his daughter had already died, and not to bother Jesus anymore.
But then, something crazy happens. Something really unbelievable. Jesus tells Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith” (Mark 5:36 NLT).
Wait a minute. Your daughter just died and Jesus tells you to just have faith? But the fact is that she already died. How can he have faith when it seems like it’s over?
Are you in a place where all “the facts” are telling you it’s over? It’s too late? It’s time to just lose hope?
Jesus’ words are just as true today. Don’t be afraid! Have faith! What Jesus did for Jairus’ daughter, he can do for you.
“Holding her hand, he said to her, ‘Talitha koum,’ which means ‘Little girl, get up!’ And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.”
- Mark 5:41-42 NLT
Lord, thank you that you are a healing God, even when it doesn’t seem possible and all the facts are telling me otherwise. Help me to trust in your supernatural power, regardless of what is happening in the natural. In Jesus’ name, amen.
