Through the Crowd

“When they came down from the mountain, the disciples stood with Jesus on a large, level area, surrounded by many of his followers and by the crowds. There were people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the seacoasts of Tyre and Sidon. They had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those troubled by evil[a] spirits were healed. Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone.”
- Luke 6:17-19 NLT
Have you ever been in the middle of a crowd that is packed tightly? It can be a pretty unsettling feeling, even suffocating! During much of Jesus’ ministry, he was surrounded and pressed in on by crowds of people that had come from all over to hear him speak. But many of the people who came to see Jesus didn’t come to hear him speak, they came for one thing: healing. They had heard about this miracle-working man, and that when he touched people, they were healed! You can imagine in a time without surgery, medicine or any of the modern day medical treatments we have that people would be desperate for healing. So people came out in crowds, desperate to touch Jesus in hopes of receiving healing.
If you are believing God for healing, keep pressing in to get closer to Jesus. The enemy will try to crowd your mind with doubts, lies, and fear, to keep you from getting to Jesus. Don’t let him stop you! Elbow your way through the crowd of lies and press on toward Jesus. The Bible assures us that through Jesus’ death on the cross you and I have healing, so keep pressing on through the crowd toward him!
Lord, thank you that you are a healing God. Help me to press on toward you, even when I have to fight through the lies the enemy tries to crowd my mind with. I trust you for my healing, in Jesus’ name, amen.
