Serving others can be hard. It’s true!
When your spouse leaves a dirty dish out for the umpteenth time (when they KNOW it’s supposed to go in the dishwasher), when your boss isn’t very kind to you even though you work hard, when you’re always the one helping and never getting any help in return, serving others can feel pretty difficult.
But when you start feeling weary of serving others, remind yourself of Jesus’ ultimate act of service for you. He came to earth not so he could be served (even though he deserved to be served more than anyone else ever!), but to serve us and to give his life on the cross for our salvation. He was the ultimate example of serving others, and we should strive to follow his example, no matter how hard.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
- Mark 10:45 NLT
Lord, thank you for your ultimate act of service in giving your life on the cross so that we could be saved. Help me to follow your example of serving others, even when I feel like they don’t deserve it and I’m tired. In Jesus’ name, amen.
