Be the Light

Working as a school nurse I encountered some disgruntled, arrogant and downright disrespectful teens. Not all were like this, but there were definitely those students that were difficult to like, let alone love. There were days I’d come to work, wishing they wouldn’t darken the door of my office. There were other students, however, who literally brightened up my day with their smile. They didn’t realize it, but their pleasant attitudes and cheerful demeanors were a powerful encouragement to me on those frustrating days.
Take a minute and think about it; what kind of person are you? Are you someone who makes it difficult for others to like you because of your attitude, negativity or sour disposition? Or are you someone who brings light and encouragement to those around you?
You can either be like the light or the dark to those around you. Choose to be the light!
“In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
- Matthew 5:16 NLT
Heavenly Father, thank you for those who have shown me the light of Christ and encouraged me even when they didn’t realize it. Help me to be a positive, joyful light to those around me, so they will see the love of Christ in my heart and come to know you and praise you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
