My favorite way to vacation is to go on a cruise. There’s just so much to love! All you can eat buffets, exciting entertainment, adventurous excursions, ocean views, and relaxing beaches. Shoot, I’m ready to go on one right now!
But my absolute favorite thing about cruising is being unplugged. With no internet or cell service, it’s easy to forget my day to day worries and responsibilities back home. Getting away from it all gives me time to reflect and refocus. It helps remove me from my circumstances and spend time refocusing on the One who is above my circumstances.
But guess what? You don’t have to go on a cruise to get unplugged. Set aside a special place to pray where you can reflect and refocus. Some people even have a prayer closet (or room, or even just a chair). All you have to do is go to that place, where you can leave behind your worries and stresses and refocus on the One who holds the world in his hands.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
- Mark 1:25 NIV
Jesus, thank you for your example of getting away to pray. Help me to set aside a time and place to refocus on You, to be reminded of your goodness and faithfulness in the midst of my circumstances. In Jesus’ name, amen.
