My husband was offered an awesome summer internship working for a State Supreme Court Justice after his second year of law school. This looked like the perfect open door to a promising after-graduation job. We were thrilled with the possibilities and started planning our future.
Unfortunately, two weeks later, the Judge passed away unexpectedly, making the job offer completely void.
We were extremely disappointed and utterly confused. To us, this job looked like a great fit, in a perfect location with great potential for the future, and it suddenly disappeared like a door slamming shut in our faces. Although disappointed and confused, we chose to trust God’s plan instead of our own, even when we didn’t understand. And today, almost six years later, we can truly say God has blessed us exceedingly beyond what we can ask or imagine. My husband has an even better job than we thought possible, and our trust in the Lord is deeper than ever before.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
- Romans 8:28 NLT
Dear Lord, thank you that even when we don’t understand our circumstances, we can trust in your goodness, knowing that you work all things together for good. You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, amen.
