26 is a number. But when it comes to Psalm 136, it's so much more.

"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever." - Psalm 136

If there's one thing the writer of Psalm 136 wanted his readers to know about God, it was that His faithful love endures forever. How do we know that? Because that single phrase is said 26 times in Psalm 136. Not once or twice or a few times here and there. 26 times. The writer wants us to know that even thousands of years later, our God, who's love was so faithful to David, Joshua, Moses, and Abraham, is just as faithful to us today. No matter what battle we're fighting today or what crisis we might face tomorrow, our God is faithful.

And just in case we weren't sure as to why God would be called faithful, the writer of Psalm 136 gave us plenty of reasons:

"He does mighty miracles. He creates life. His arm is strong and powerful. He saves. He leads. He protects. He defends. He provides. He remembers us when we are at our weakest."

Think on a moment in your life where God proved himself faithful. Recognize His goodness and his faithfulness and give thanks to the LORD, for He is good.

Lord, you are faithful and you are good. You've been there for me countless times, and I know that no matter what I face in the future, you will be with me then, too. For these things and many more, I give you thanks and praise. In Jesus' name, amen.
