When David went up against Goliath, the Bible says he was just a shepherd boy, ruddy and handsome. Goliath however, the Philistine champion, was tall, strong and incredibly intimidating! In modern day terms, when compared to Goliath, David was a shrimp! Day after day for forty days, Goliath came out and taunted the Israelite army. But David, confident in the God who had saved him from wild bears and lions while watching his sheep in the field, told King Saul of Israel to not lose heart; he wanted to fight the giant!
When things in life start to make you feel smaller and your giants bigger, remember David. Although he was just a shepherd boy, God transformed him in to a mighty warrior and later into the king!
“Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: ‘I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people.’”
- Psalm 89:19
Lord, thank you that you are transforming me into a mighty warrior for your kingdom. Help me not to be afraid when the giants in my life intimidate me, but to trust in your strength and to seek your wisdom in all I do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
