If you’re like me, when God asks you to do something scary or difficult, it’s pretty easy to disqualify yourself from the task. "I’m not smart enough, skilled enough, funny enough, wealthy enough, or (you fill in the blank) enough to do what you want me to do, Lord. I guess you should just ask someone else, someone better."
But guess what? God doesn’t ask you to do something because you’re already qualified. In fact, often in the Bible, God chooses the one who (humanly speaking) seems least qualified! But God’s plans and thoughts are higher than ours, and if we are obedient we can be certain that in whatever he asks us to do, He will be with us!
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
- Judges 6:15-16 NIV
Thank you, Lord, that when you ask us to do big things, you are bigger still. Help us to trust your promises and lean on you for strength and wisdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
