Did you know that God wants us to remain in an attitude and spirit of prayer all day? Yeah. It sounds crazy. And intimidating. But it's true. It was on the internet, so it has to be true. No, really, it's in the Bible, in 1 Thess 5:
“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances.”
Why does God instruct us to do these things? I can tell you for sure that it's not like how our kids think. "If I ask for it enough, I will wear God down and make him give me what I want." (Is that what your kids do, too? Sigh, such is life). But no. God simply wants us to be in communication with him throughout our day. Not just at mealtime or bedtime or at church -- he wants to talk with us all the time. And when you're in constant communication with the Father, you will know his kind of joy.
Lord, some days are really hard. And others are even harder. I ask that you help me to trust you with today. Help me to lay down my frustrations and be joyful and thankful. You are good and faithful, and you've never let me down and you never will. Help me to stay connected with you always. In Jesus' name, amen.
