The Secret

"I have learned the secret of being content."  Phil. 4:12

Sometimes contentment means:  Learning to be happy with less.  A hard-charging executive decided to spend a few days in a monastery.  "I hope your stay is a blessed one,"  said the monk who showed in to his cell.  "If you need anything let us know.  We'll teach you how live without it."  Happiness isn't getting what you want, it's enjoying what God's given you.  Also, it is reminding yourself things could be worse.  Third, understanding that what you seek is spiritual, not material.  Our problem  isn't that we want more, it's that the condition which underlies all our wantings is that we really want God.  Our dissatisfaction, if we let it, can sharpen our spiritual hunger!
